Directorial work

As a director, I'm drawn to the spaces between certainty and doubt, between what characters say and what they cannot bring themselves to reveal. My work spans dramatic plays, comedy, and absurdist theatre, always searching for moments.

I direct from the belief that every empty stage holds infinite potential. My process begins with creating space – physical, emotional, and creative space – where actors can discover what their characters need to communicate beyond the written text.

My training includes the RI Teatar Drama School under Bojan Lakos (2010), advanced studies in Dramatic Corporeal Mime (Étienne Decroux Technique) under Jorge Correa Bethencourt (2013), and Shakespearean and Greek tragedy work at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (2013). My directing approach has been significantly enhanced through intensive training with Mike Alfreds (2023), with additional development through Barbara Houseman's acting and voice integration work and Kate Flatt's physical theatre training at the Young Vic.

I have also completed training residencies, including a research-based residency with Babel Theatre (Joseph Lynch) featuring Chris Evans from Gecko Theatre, and training with Temper Theatre under Finn Morell. These experiences have deepened my understanding of ensemble-based devised work and physical storytelling methodologies.

I work extensively with movement as a language that operates beyond verbal communication. Drawing on my physical theatre training, I help actors discover their characters’ physical truth, with a particular interest in moments of stillness – the pause before a decision, the breath between words, the weight of what cannot be said.

My approach is fundamentally collaborative. I create rehearsal environments where vulnerability is safe and exploration is encouraged, drawing on trauma-informed practice to support actors accessing difficult material. I believe the most powerful theatrical moments emerge from genuine creative partnership rather than imposed vision.

Identity and Displacement – How we navigate who we are when context shifts
The Body's Wisdom – What our physical selves understand beyond intellectual knowledge
Community and Isolation – The human need for connection and the barriers we create
Humour as Survival – How laughter becomes both weapon and shield
Silence and Space – The profound communication that happens without words
Transformation Through Adversity – How we can grow rather than break under pressure

I'm particularly drawn to multidisciplinary and site-specific work that challenges conventional audience-performer relationships. Current projects include my adaptation of Dazai's "No Longer Human" and developing trauma-informed workshop methodologies that bridge therapeutic practice with theatrical training.

I seek collaborations that prioritise both artistic excellence and meaningful social impact, working with organisations that understand theatre as transformation rather than mere entertainment.
